Helsinki based nine2five
recordings has quickly established itself as the
creative source for fresh talent emerging from the North.
Artists on nine2five - such as DharmaOne, The Executives,
Infekto and Robbyn Rhodes - have notched up releases

Stereo Deluxe, Passenger and Moving Shadow, and the
nine2five releases have received enthusiastic support
from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff, Rainer
Truby, Roni Size, London Elektricity, Aquasky, Jockey
Slut Magazine, Knowledge Magazine and many more.
Hosted by Juha Ponteva, the nine2five radioshow presents
the sounds of "new Northern soul" from countries
such as Finland, Sweden, Norway & Estonia with features,
exclusives and unreleased material, forthcoming promos
and dj-mixes by the top talent of the Nordics.

One of the early
ones to catch the jungle fever in the early 90's, Juha
adopted the dj-name Dizzy, and quickly set up Straight
Up Breakbeat: the first regular drum & bass night
in Finland, later to become the first Finnish drum&bass
label.
Don't let this fool you though, as he's always been
keen on not limiting to only one style of music. Cue
setting up nine2five recordings with his friends, to
become an outlet for the stream of music coming his
way from dozens of young producers. As a dj, you can
therefore expect him to play a set with no limitations
- bossanova, breakbeat, percussive house and the most
upfront, rolling drum & bass all shaking hands in
a true block party style.
Guesting at clubs & venues such as Perverted Science
@ 333, Hospitality @ Herbal, Trans Europe Express @
ICA and Beach @ Notting Hill Arts Club (London), Batofar
(Paris), Berns & Tranan (Stockholm), and even the
legendary Gilles Peterson Worldwide show, he's taken
the new Northern sound all around Europe.
With the nationwide drum&bass / breakbeat show
being the longest running specialist show on the Finnish
radio, he's the last man standing of the original Helsinki
school of jungle. Still being one of the mainstays on
the local scene, he's also shared the decks with the
likes of Goldie, Fabio, Grooverider, Photek, Roni Size,
Krust, Dj Hype, Zinc, Bryan G, London Elektricity, Aquasky,
Micky Finn, DJ SS and dozens of others.
